Offered for sale is a Savage Model 29.22 Long Rifle Slide Action Octagon Barrel Rifle. The rifle features a 24' octagon barrel, tube magazine, walnut stocks, takedown design, and adjustable sights. This rifle shows good mechanical condition, and the overall condition is good with signs of use and wear. Jul 02, 2012 The model 29 was replaced with the Model 29-A about 1938; this was a completely new design of action and not just an improvement. The checkering is standard but only became standard later in production - earliest checkered I have seen is about 124,000 serial and the highest about 145,000 but this is based on a very limited number & has a very. Mar 04, 2015 I recently purchased what I thought to be a Savage Model 29.22 rifle. When it arrived today, I noticed that the markings on the octagonal barrel shows it to be a Model 29 manufactured in Utica, NY. The left-side receiver plate is marked with 'Savage 29a'. I have,a Savage model 29 passed down from my grandfather and am looking for information on the worth of the gun and manufacture time frame (I've been told it is pre world war II). I am aware of at least one place to go requiring a fee for the info but am looking for a less expensive way to do it.
